The consumption of any alcoholic beverage must be moderate and ocassional. The organism perfectly tolerates small quantities of alcohol, a glass of red wine or a glass of beer a day. High proof drinks have plenty of calories due to their contents in alcohol and very few nutrients. This is why it is said that they supply empty calories and, besides, a high alcohol consumption unbalances the diet. as the organism must consume large quantities of vitamins (particularly those of group B) for its degradation.
